How to Compete

Collect your friends, coworkers, Boy or Girl Scout Troop, service league or bowling league and make the decision to make a difference for local abused and neglected children and have some fun. This will be your “pumpkin patch.”

Get creative about raising some money to support local kids. Hold a bake sale. Have a car wash. One year’s winners set up tables at a local store, and another hosted a 5K race to support their patch. Every dollar you raise, no matter how you raise it, is a vote for your your patch. Need posters, brochures or banners for your fundraisers? Advocates for Children is happy to help.

Get your team together and decide what you want your patch to look like. Do you want all your Jacks to follow a theme? Maybe you want to put them together to form a picture. Carve them out and bring them, along with any money you’ve raised and your entry fee of $50, to Jack Turn-In from 4-7 PM on Friday, October 27th in the FairOaks Mall.

  • You can pre-register your patch online and skip the line at Jack Turn-In.  Just click here.
  • Need a place to carve your Jack-o'-Lanters, or just want to spare yourself the trip to transport your patch?  This year, we'll be holding carving nights on Wednedsay, October 25th and Thursday, October 26th at the FairOaks Mall.  Your team can carve your pumpkins right on site and leave them with us.  We'll take it from there!

Come to Strolling Night on Saturday, October 28th, at the FairOaks mall from 3:00—9:00 P.M. This is the main event! Invite your friends and family. Enjoy the games, the music and the food. Encourage visitors to make donations and vote for your patch. We’ll keep you updated throughout the night on who’s in the lead.  The team that raises the most will be named the Year's Best Patch, and earn the Grand Prize!
